Vision for the future

오래 전부터 맨체스터 대학교 총장인 Professor Alan Gilbert 교수님이 Manchester 2015 Agenda라는 야망찬 플랜을 내놓으셨죠.  2015년 이내 모든 분야에서 세계 대학 랭킹 25위 이내 들게 하겠다는 계획이었습니다. 이 Manchester 2015 Agenda를 서울대학교가 벤치마킹했단 사실을 아시는지요?

서울대학교는 서울대만의 비전 2025을 홍보했고 이는 국내 여러대학교가 따라하게 될 정도로 정말

획기적이었다고 생각합니다. 

맨체스터대학교가 대학발전을 위해 지키겠다고 약속한 플랜의 세부 사항은 다음과 같습니다

현재 이미 맨체스터 대학교는 기존 Agenda의 9개 항목에 대한 목표를 달성하였습니다.  따라서 최근에 좀더 업그레이드 시킨 Agenda, 이름하여 좀더 newer version인 Advancing the Manchester 2015 Agenda를 공표했는데요.  플랜이 더 세부적이고 구체적으로 되어있습니다.   제가 졸업한 후에도 계속 맨체스터대는 발전가능성이 무궁무진한 대학교 인 것 같습니다.  객관적인 시각으로 이렇게 학생을 위해 발전시키려 노력하고 애쓰는 학교라면, 빠르면 향후 3~4년 이내 랭킹 20위권 안으로 확고한 자리 확립을 충분히 할 수 있을거라고 생각합니다.

비젼이다, Agenda라고 해서 말만 주구장창 늘어놓는 것이 아니었습니다.  2015년 Agenda를 발표한 이래 지금 현재 맨체스터 대학교는 정말 하나도 빠짐없이 계획적으로 또 끊임없이 꾸준히 지속적으로 발전하고 또 위에 세부 항목에 관한 프로젝트를 실행하고 또 계획하고 있습니다.  특히 제가 아는, 학교의 Infrastructure 개발 프로젝트만 해도 도로에 가로수 나무 심기, 잔디밭 지역 확장, 신 경영대학 건물 착공, 기타 단과대학 새 건물 프로젝트등 정말 많습니다.
